Finding The Right Gear

Finding The Right Gear

After a friend invited me to go motocross biking, he told me that we were going to have to stop off for some gear first. We visited a specialty outdoors store, and they fitted us with all of the gear I thought we would ever need. When we were out on the trails, those pieces of safety equipment came in handy as we wiped out at even slow speeds more than a few times. I wanted to make this blog to help people everywhere to know how to find the right gear, how to use it, and how to avoid injury during extreme and motor sports.

Accessories That Can Help You When Rescuing Other Riders

When you own a utility vehicle (UTV) and spend a lot of time exploring trails and other off-road areas with your fellow riders, you'll occasionally encounter another rider who is stuck. In some cases, the rider may be stuck in thick mud from which they cannot drive out. During the winter, you may even come across a rider whose UTV has partially fallen through a patch of ice and is stuck where it sits. The right accessories can allow you to render aid to your peers, whether you know them or they're complete strangers. Here are some accessories that can help in this regard.

Winch

There's arguably no better UTV accessory for helping other riders than a winch. You can mount this device to the front or back of your vehicle, depending on its design. Winches are equipped with a long piece of cable and a hook, which you can connect to a sturdy part of the vehicle of any stuck rider. Once the hook is in place, you can engage the winch and begin to slowly pull the other UTV toward you. With this accessory mounted to your vehicle, anyone who is stuck will be glad to see you approach.

Side Mirrors

Lots of UTVs are equipped with a center-mounted rear-view mirror in the cockpit, but your local accessories dealer will have other mirrors for you to consider. If you're eager to render assistance to stuck riders, having a pair of side mirrors on each side of your UTV can be helpful. When you're attempting to pull another UTV with a rear-mounted winch, you need to constantly be aware of what's behind you. While you can turn your body when necessary, it's nice to be able to quickly survey the scene in your side mirrors so that you don't lose sight of what obstacles may be in front of you, too.

Bumper

A lot of people add aftermarket bumpers to their UTVs. If you haven't already done so, this is an upgrade that you'll want to seriously consider if you envision yourself helping stuck riders. When a stuck rider's UTV finally breaks free, there's a risk that it could lurch forward toward your vehicle. The last thing that you want is the other UTV bumping into the front or back of your UTV, but this is a legitimate risk. Having a bumper mounted around the winch can protect against damage in the event of this contact. Visit a UTV accessories dealer to buy these and other UTV  accessories.
